Implementation of data cleansing methodology and application; data cleansing of the origination data of a new, company wide collateral database 2008. 03. 27. - 2009. 02. 28.

Due to BASEL II requirements, rationalization of the bank's collateral data base became imperative, resulting in the launch of a project aiming at the elaboration of a unified collateral data base and the re-engineering of collateral assessment processes.

In order to fulfill the data requirements of the collateral database, it was necessary to clean the client, the transaction and the collateral data, accordingly to their relationships, stored in different source systems.
Regarding that the bank did not have any previous considerable data cleaning experience, and that they were facing several projects which could hardly fulfill business requirements in case of insufficient data quality, the bank decided to establish its data cleaning competence through the cleaning of its collateral data base, and to obtain a tool system adequate to effectively support data cleaning processes, for long-term purposes.

After a thorough and circumspect procurement procedure, the bank concluded that Clarity Consulting's knowledge-conveying philosophy, its proven methodology and tool system are the most adequate to serve their long-term objectives.
Our approach was that we performed all tasks - from scope defining to the closure of data cleaning - together with the bank's appointed staff, by previously discussing the ensuing steps with them, and by co-ordinating their work.
The basis of the work was provided by Clarity Consulting's detailed and documented data cleaning methodology, and the data cleaning program-pack.
In case it was necessary, we adjusted the changes in the procedure, and we documented the customized methodology at the end of each work phase.
We customized the graphical user interface of the tool according to the approved methodology, which was accepted after an extensive users' test, and in view of the customized methodology.
Following the project closure, the employees of the data cleaning competence center of the bank - which was established as a result of the project - have since successfully used their gained knowledge in several data cleaning projects.

According to the latest experience, they perform the necessary changes in the methodology without any external support, which also proves the success of Clarity Consulting's knowledge-transfer.
